‘You Are For Me’, the first CD by Tony Barr, can be described as a collection of the biblical songs of a pilgrim people. It follows a wandering path through the liturgical year. In addition to adhering to the Christian Scripture, it also leads us along the well-worn path beaten out by the Native American or First Nation people, with songs reflecting on the power of a spirituality which is both close to our own and yet so refreshingly different. The songs, psalms, and acclamations raise more questions than there are answers, challenging all whose path leads to God to assume nothing and be confronted by the God of Surprises.
